Discovering my growth

Last week I was in a "funk" as I called it, this week crazy things are happening. While I was in my time of "poor me, I can't do this" I kept telling myself, " Heather your thoughts are getting the better of you. You need to move past this." This was my tests of my own inner strength. I WON!!!! I did not give into fear or ego "bullies", as I like to call them. I kept truckin, refusing to give up. I have a dream, a mission, a purpose and I won't let anything get in the way.

The reason why I am telling you this is because something amazing happened to me tonight. While I was in the emergency room tonight with my mother ( she is doing much better, no worries) there was this women in the worst physical pain I have ever witnessed. She came in screaming, holding her side and was not seeing for at least an hour. When she sat down, I look over and noticed her crying. My heart literally started thumping out of my chest and I walked over to her and gave her a tissue. I then ask if I could place my hands on her. I told her I was a Reiki Practitioner. She shook her head yes. While I was sitting with this women I also started crying. I told her to breath with me. I closed my eyes and began to consciously breathing with this women.  She began to synchronize her breathing with mine.  I held my hands on her and stayed in this space for about 5 minutes. She refrained from screaming and was able to stop crying.

Needless to say I was the only person who acknowledged this women, because the registration nurse who took her health card information. I was not able to give her total pain relief but I was able to give her some love and support.

Random acts of kindness is always needed and greatly appreciated. Please give a helping hand when the opportunity arises. I wrote this post not only to demonstrate kindness but to bring awareness to everyone to be yourself, go with your "gut" instinct and live for the moment.

I don't know if the Heather I was six months ago would have had the confident to walk up to a complete stranger and lay my healing hands on them. All I know is I have a purpose and i'm living it.

I would love to hear your Random Acts of Kindness.... Post your comment below :)

  1. As I approached the grocery store today to get a few last minutes items in order to cook dinner, I noticed a little boy about 8 years old sitting in a wheel chair just outside of the store entrence. As I got closer to the boy, I prepared myself to greet him with a smile and say hello, but....he beat me to it and looked at me with a big grin and said "hi". He put a smile on my face after a long, stressful day at work, just when I needed it and again as I write this message.

  3. I love this story Heather! You are an amazing woman and have so much to give to this world. Did you know that by showing that woman compassion and offering her healing you were doing the same thing for yourself? She offered you a mirror image of what you were going through on the inside and you didn't hesitate to offer her what she needed.
